Craigslist No-Shows

First off let me say that this is in no way an indictment of craigslist.com. I think it’s a fabulous service. I found my new job that I start next week on there, and I also found my new apartment that I’m moving into this coming Friday on there. This is about some of the people who use the website. The people who say they want to buy what you’re selling and then not show up for whatever reason. My story:

I’m moving soon and I decided to put some furniture that I cannot take with me up for sale. I posted them and I got a few responses. I got one yesterday who said he was going to show up and of course never did. I got another one today. I gave him a time and the address. Guess what? No-show. I’m not upset that the person changed their minds. I’m angry that they didn’t have enough manners to call and let me know that they changed their mind.

A simple fucking phone call. It’s called being considerate. It’s called common courtesy. It’s called not being an asshole. It always amazes me how the most simple things to do are always the hardest for some people.  I wrote the jerk-off an email, scolding him and letting him know how I felt about him wasting my time.

Anyway, I did get an email from an organization that said if I didn’t sell my items, they would come and pick them up for me and recycle them and donate the proceeds to the Humane Society. It might be a scam. I don’t know and I really don’t care. I just want these items to end up in someone’s home and not on a garbage pile. And if it’s not a scam, I’m happy these things will go to a worthy cause.

  1. I can relate to your anger as I’m on my second no show for the week. I still can’t figure out why people call, make arrangements and then never actually show up. It kinda makes me think that most of the people viewing my ads on CL are just trailer trash assholes that have nothing better to do than sit at home wasting other peoples time while they wait for the welfare checks to arrive.
